et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2>Description<\/h2>\n<p>The existing building is redeveloped, retaining its industrial character, characterized by \u201craw\u201d materiality.<br \/>A mezzanine floor is added to the double-height internal space, incorporating the steel construction technologies of the original factory. This separation flexibly defines the ancillary spaces, useful for hosting events and temporary installations.  <\/p>\n<p>Central to the museum\u2019s vision is the laboratory activity, which aims to recreate the foundry\u2019s production processes on a miniature scale. This underlines the museum\u2019s educational role in preserving and transmitting Terni\u2019s unique technical heritage unique to Terni.<br \/>The redevelopment scheme is informed by the interaction between two grids: one inside the building and the other extending outwards to the surrounding neighborhood and city.<\/p>\n<p>The grid that defines the internal space is therefore projected outwards, leaving traces and \u201cfragments\u201d on public land, following the flow of the river (topography) and interacting with the nearby railway line. The traces of the grid on public land (represented, where possible, by painted steel profiles) end in furnishing elements, such as totems and seats, which describe the museum\u2019s activities. Inside, the project maintains and enhances the current character of the existing building box, preserving the materiality of the perimeter wall body, in brick with stiffening inserts, concrete pillars and beams.  <\/p>\n<p>The sense of space of the large hall, lit from above, typical of industrial architecture, is maintained and great importance is attached to the production structures that still exist inside the foundry, which will become the backbone of the museum\u2019s narrative and laboratory educational activities.
