Description

The project proposes an architectural structure that integrates into the landscape and redefines its spaces and aesthetics. The basic layout follows the hilly profile of the site with sinuous and organic forms, distributing itself over two main levels accompanied by a series of secondary terraces.

The transition in elevation between the two main floors accommodates rooms designed for lodging and laboratory activities. At the upper level, a sprawling open terrace follows the hill’s contours, housing a botanical garden and a car park shaded by a metal sheet roof. A monumental staircase connects the two areas, leading beneath the terrace to the lower level. Here, nestled under the upper terrace, an elongated portico grants access to the internal chambers of the complex. On the opposite end, the portico opens onto a landscape cascading into verdant terraces adorned with expansive flowerbeds and towering trees. Adorned with colored ceramic fragments recycled as a homage to Gaudì’s stylistic legacy, the floors of the portico, terraces, and colonnade lend a distinctive character to the ensemble. Inspired by the nearby mountain contours, the monumental colonnade defines the surrounding environment, while the terraces evoke a dreamlike ambiance conducive to reflection and meditation.

Internally, the complex comprises four artist residences spanning 65 m² each, a hostel offering 20 rooms of 25 m², a communal kitchen and dining area, a co-working space, and four classrooms designed for versatile workshops, adaptable via sliding walls.

Incorporating sustainable and cutting-edge technology, the project entails the installation of photovoltaic panels atop the car park roof to serve the residential complex’s energy needs, alongside a comprehensive drainage and water collection system for the hill portion encompassed by the intervention.
