Description
Urges was involved in both the design and execution phases of the work carried out at the Piazza Aspromonte apartment building in Milan. The project was carried out under the ‘Superbonus 110%’ energy incentives and covered several parts of the building. Firstly, the curtain wall was refurbished with new thermal insulation made from nanoceramic materials. Given their very low thickness compared to traditional coatings, these materials made it possible to maintain the building’s historical features, such as the 1920s ornaments, tympanums and cornices around the windows, while significantly improving the building’s energy performance.
There were also plans to insulate the roof underneath the covering and replace the compromised tiles. Various interventions were carried out at plant level, such as replacing the heating system with a new generation model, inserting solar collectors and constructing a photovoltaic system sized for the building’s needs, accompanied by a storage system.
The entire intervention aimed to improve the building’s aesthetics and functionality while preserving its historical identity and enhancing its energy performance.
